세 종류를 소개하고 있습니다.

CORTEN490 을 제조하는 일본의 경우 CORTEN 490 을
무도장 사양 용접 구조용 내후성 강재 (無塗裝仕樣溶接構造用耐候性鋼材) 라는

길고도 긴, 이름을, 사용하고 있습니다.
ASTM A588도 내후성 강재입니다.

High-Strength Low-Alloy Structural Steel, up to 50ksi(345MPa)
Minimum Yield Strength Point, with Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance

이게 A588의 ASTM 공식 명칭입니다.
이 공식 명칭을 뜯어 보면 별거 없어 보입니다.

고장력이라는 High-Strength는
50ksi (345MPa)만 되도 이름 붙여줍니다….이 정도 강도의 강재는 무수히 많음.

Low-Alloy, 저합금강으로, 5대 원소를 제외하고,
합금 원소라고는, 많아야 0.50% 수준입니다.

하지만 CORTEN 과 A588 내후성 강재는
이 0.50% 이하 수준의 저합금이

결정적 내후성 성질을
가지게 하는 요소입니다.

※ Atmospheric corrosion resistance (내후성 : 耐候性)
A property of low alloy steels or the like for corrosion resistance
in the atmospheric of natural environment.
Including the resistance for deterioration of resin for coated
steel plate and polyvinyl chloride-coated steel plate.
저합금강 등이 자연 환경의 대기 속에서 부식에 견디는 성질.

※ High Tensile Strength Steel (고장력강 : 高張力鋼)
Steel products manufactured for building, bridges, ships, vehicles,
automobiles, other structural use and pressure vessel use which
require weldability, notch toughness, workability, and
tensile strength of 490 N/㎟ min. in general.
In cold rolled steel sheets, those of 340 N/㎟ min. in tensile
strength are called high tensile strength steels.
건축, 교량, 선박, 차량, 기타의 구조물 및 압력 용기용으로서,
보통 인장 강도 50kgf/㎟ (490N/㎟) 이상의 용접성, 노치 인성 및
가공성도 중시해서 제조 된 강재라고 합니다.
자동차용 냉연 강판에서는 인장 강도 35kgf/㎟ (340 N/㎟)
이상을 고장력강이라고 합니다.
