순철 ( Pure Iron ) 을 JIS 에서는
다음과 같이 설명합니다.
※ Pure Iron
Iron containing very little amount of carbon and other impurity elements
Although there is no clear division of the limit of impurity elements,
the iron with carbon content rate of up to about 0.02% is called
pure iron.
Electrolytic iron, Armco iron, carbonyl iron and reduced iron
are treated as pure iron.
탄소, 기타의 불순물 원소가 매우 적은 철, 불순물의 한계에 대한
명확한 구분은 없으나, 탄소 함유량이 0.02% 정도 까지를
순철 (Pure Iron) 이라고 부르고 있다.
전해철, 암코철, 카보닐철, 환원철은 순철로 취급되고 있다.

아래와 같습니다.

JIS C2504 에서는 전자 연철 탄소량을 0.030% max로 규정하고 있지만
JAPAN JFE Steel은 JFE Standard 0.020% max로,
JIS C2504 보다 규정하고 있는 0.030% max 보다
Low Carbon 으로, JFE Maker Standard 로 규정하고 있고,
실제 공급에서는 JIS C2504 규정보다도 … 0.030 max %
자사 JFE Maker Standard 보다도 …0.020 max %
Extra Low Carbon 수준인 0.003% 탄소량으로
공급하고 있습니다.
이와 같은 Low Carbon 은 당연히 좋은 용접 성질을 가지며
기계 구조용강 중 가장 Low Carbon 인 S10C — 탄소량 0.10% 보다도
훨씬 낮으며, 저온 인성, 좋은 용접성을 자랑하는
HSB600L — 교량 구조용 전용강재–탄소량 0.08% 수준보다도
낮은 탄소량을 가지는 순철 (Pure Iron)입니다.
또한 순철은 항자력은 낮고, 투자력이 높은 특성을 가져
JIS C2504 에서는 Soft magnetic irons (전자 연철) 이라고도 불리며
변압기, 발전용 박판, 전동기 관련 강재로 사용됩니다.
※ Carbon Steel
Steel made by alloy iron and carbon of which carbon content
is generally within a range from 0.02% to 2%.
Further, a small amount of silicon, manganese, phosphorus,
sulfur, etc. are usually contained.
For convenience, carbon steel may be sometimes classified as
according to the carbon content or hardness (including strength).
Classification by carbon content : Low carbon steels,
medium carbon steels and high carbon steels.
Classification by hardness : Extra mild steel,
mild steel and hard steel .
