일반적인 대기 환경에 노출 됬을 때
부식에 대한 저항성이 높은 강재입니다.

A242 의, ASTM 명칭은 High strength low alloy 입니다.
강도는 높으면서 저합금 강재로, 일반적인 탄소강재의 경우

부식에 대한 염려로 페인트 도장을 하지만
A242 강재는 페인트 도장 없이 사용합니다.

A588 규격도 내후성 강재이지만
A242 대비 합금 원소량이 다양합니다.

A242 강재는 그냥 탄소강 수준 강재에 내후성을 높이는
Copper (Cu) 원소만 0.20% minimum 합금 강재 입니다.

또한 A242 는 100 mm 까지만 생산규정이지만
A588 은 200 mm 까지로 A242와 A588의 차이가 있습니다.

A242, 20t 이하인 경우 항복강도 345 MPa 수준으로
강도로만 비교한다면, KS SM355A, JIS SM490A

DIN-EN S355JR 수준의 강도 강재이며
A242 강재 Plate 와 형강 (shapes)에 대한 규정입니다.

A property of low alloy steels or the like for corrosion resistance
in the atmospheric of natural environment.
Including the resistance for deterioration of resin for coated
steel plate and polyvinyl chloride-coated steel plate.
저합금강등이 자연 환경의 대기속에서 부식에 견디는 성질.

※ Carbon Steel (탄소강) – AISI
Generally speaking carbon steels contain up to 2% total alloying
elements, and can be subdivided into as following categories
Low-carbon steels, which contain up to 0.30% C
Medium-carbon steels, which contain 0.30% to 0.60% C
High-carbon steels, which contain 0.60% to 1.00% C
