AISI/SAE로는 AISI/SAE1045 입니다.

서로 100% 일치하지는 않습니다.
S45C에서 가장 중요한 원소는 Carbon입니다.

그 Carbon 값의 상하한 Range에서 AISI 1045가 조금 높고
불순물인 황 (S)과 인 (P) 값도 JIS 보다 높습니다.

S45C는 기계 구조용강에 속하며
기계 구조용강 Steel Grade 중 가장 많이 생산, 소비됩니다.

하지만 Diameter 가 작아지면 전혀 다른 얘기가 됩니다.
뭐든지 너무 작아지거나, 너무 커지거나

고순도 — 순철 (SUYB, SUYP)
고강도 — Ultrahigh Strength Steels (Hardox extreme) 금속들은

수요와 공급에서 애로가 발생하고 이는 S45C 뿐만 아니라,
다른 Steel Grade에서도 마찬가지입니다.

S45C specifies carbon steel for machine structural use mainly
manufactured by hot forming such as hot rolling and hot forging.
Steels are generally used after further processes
of forging, cutting and heat treatment

※ Carbon Steel — JIS
Steel made by alloy iron and carbon of which carbon content
is generally within a range from 0.02% to 2%.
Further, a small amount of silicon, manganese, phosphorus,
sulfur, etc. are usually contained.
For convenience, carbon steel may be sometimes classified as
according to the carbon content or hardness (including strength).
Classification by carbon content : Low carbon steels,
medium carbon steels and high carbon steels.
Classification by hardness : Extra mild steel,
mild steel and hard steel.

Generally speaking carbon steels contain up to 2% total alloying
elements, and can be subdivided into as following categories.

Low-carbon steels, which contain up to 0.30% C
Medium-carbon steels, which contain 0.30% to 0.60% C
High-carbon steels, which contain 0.60% to 1.00% C
