EN40B 는 열처리에 따라 EN40BT, EN40BS, EN 40BU 종류가 있지만
주로 공급되는 종류는 열처리 Condition T — EN40BT 입니다.

Hardened and Tempered 조건에서 인장강도 850~1000 MPa 입니다.
높은 강도와 함께 인성 (toughness), 연성 (ductility), 높은 크리프 강도 재질입니다.

질화 처리 (Nitriding) 후에는 Vickers 경도 750 수준입니다.
Old Symbol EN40B, 현재 사용하는 Symbol 은, 722M24 입니다.

EN24B 재질은 Chromium nominal 3.5%, Molybdenum 합금강재 입니다.
EN40B 재질은 Shafts, Spindles, Pinions, Gears, Cams 용도입니다.

※ Creep rupture strength (크리프 파단 강도 : 破斷强度)
Stress under which creep rupture occurs in constant
period of time at constant temperature
일정 온도하에서 일정 시간에 크리프 파단 할 때의 응력

※ Creep resistance
a property of resistance against a phenomenon in which
strain in the lapse of time under a fixed stress at a high
temperature called high temperature creep.

고온의 일정한 압력을 받는 환경에서 물질의 변형이
시간이 경과함에 따라 증가하는 현상을 고온 크립이라고 하고
이에 견디는 성질을 말합니다.

※ Toughness (인성 : 靭性)
The degree of difficulty in occurring impact breaking
because of the material’s toughness .

질기고 세며, 충격 파괴를 일으키기 어려운지, 어떤지의 정도.

※ Nitriding (질화 : Nitriding)
Thermochemical treatment which is applied to a ferrous product
in order to produce surface enrichment in nitrogen
The medium in which the nitriding takes place shall be
specified e.g. gas, plasma, etc.

철강재 표면의 질소 농도를 높이는 열 화학적 처리.
질화에 사용되는 매질은 가스, 플라즈마 등으로 표시해야 한다.
