AMS 4904 규정은 6Al4V 합금으로 고용화 처리와 시효 처리한 (STA),
비중 대비 높은 강도 (high strength-to-weight)의, 티타늄 합금 규정입니다.

AMS 4904 재질은 288℃ 수준까지 안정적인 비강도 (比强度 : strength to weight ratio)
강재로, Sheet, Plate, Strip 제품으로, 우주 항공용 frame, fasteners 소재로 사용됩니다.

AMS 4904 재질의 특별한 경량과 높은 강도로 우주 항공용 소재 뿐 아니라
의료 장비, marine and chemical instruments 용도로 사용됩니다.

AMS 4904 재질 3/4″ 인 경우 1000 MPa 인장강도에 비중 4.47 g/㎤, 일반 탄소강재
인장강도 400 MPa 인장강도, 비중 7.85 g/㎤ 와 비교하면 높은 비강도가 가늠됩니다.

AMS 4904 재질은 열처리 온도에 따라 다른 강도가 가능한 재질이고
6Al4V 티타늄 합금은, 티타늄 합금 중 가장 많이 사용되는 재질입니다.

※ Solution heat treatment (용체화 처리/고용화 처리)
A process in which an alloy is heated to a suitable temperature and is held
at this temperature long enough to allow soluble constituents to enter into
solid solution where they are retained in a super-saturated state after quenching.

합금을 적절한 온도로 가열하고 급랭 이후 과포화 상태로 존재하던
가용 성분이 고용체에 고용화 될 수 있도록 충분히 유지하는 공정을 말합니다.

※ Aging treatment (시효 처리)
Heat treatment applied to a ferrous product after solution treatment
bring its properties to the required level.
Note : It consists of heating to and socking at one or more
specified temperature, followed by appropriate cooling.

철강재가 필요한 성질을 가지도록 용체화 처리한 뒤에 적용하는 열처리.
이 처리는 가열한 뒤 정해진 하나 또는 두 온도에서 일정 시간 유지하는
균열화 처리 후 적절하게 냉각하는 공정으로 이루어집니다.
