ASTM F899 은 외과병원 의료도구용 전신재 스텐레스에 대한 규정입니다.
여러가지 재질 중 reamer (드릴로 뚫은 구멍의 정밀도를 높이는 공구)를

만드는 재질로 F899 17-4PH Grade, S17400, Type 630 Stainless 있습니다.
물론 F899 17-4PH 강재는 reamer 용도 이외로도 쓰여, fasteners, shafts,

gears, valve, chemical process equipment aircraft fittings, jet engine parts,
nuclear reactor components, paper mill equipment, and missile fittings 용도입니다.

F899 17-4PH Grade 는 Temper 별, 강도와 기계적 성질을 구분하고 있고
스텐레스로는 높은 내식성과 높은 강도가 특징인 강재입니다.

F899 17-4PH Grade 는, AMS 5643, UNS S17400, AISI 630
EN 1.4542, X5CrNiCuNb 16-4 재질과 비교 가능합니다.

※ Wrought product (전신재 : 展伸材)
A product that has been subjected to mechanical working
by such processes as rolling, extruding, forging, etc.

단독 또는 복합적인 압출, 단조, 열간 압연, 냉간압연 또는 인발과 같은
냉간 소성변형에 의해 얻어지는 제품에 대한 일반적인 용어로
전신재의 예로는 봉 (Rod), 바 (Bar), 선 (Wire), 관 (Tube), 형재 (Profile),
판 (Sheet), 조 (Strip), 단조물 (Forging)이 있습니다.
금속의 전연성 (展延性 : Ductility)을 이용한 금속가공품을 말합니다.
이와는 반대로 비가공제품 (Unwrought products(refinery shapes)는
정련이나 주조, 용해 공정에서 얻어지는 가공되지 않은 제품을 말합니다.

※ Temper
The term “temper” means the division of mechanical properties
individually formed by various processing and heat treatment
conditions in the manufacturing process.
금속 또는 합금에 요구되는 특정한 물리적 성질 또는 기계적 성질을
부여하는 공정(예를 들면 기계적 처리 및 열처리) 후의 상태를 말합니다.
