MIL-S-7420 재질은 고탄소, 크롬합금강으로, Aircraft Quality 강입니다.
베어링 용도로 쓰이는 강재로, Quenching 열처리시 64~65 HRC 수준입니다.

1% 수준의 Carbon, Chromium 1.40% 수준의 합금으로
높은 Quenching 담금질 열처리 성능이 나타나는 재질입니다.

강재 내부의 품질을 높이는 제강 과정을 거치는 강재로
EAF (전기로 Electric Arc Furnace) + AOD (Argon Oxygen Decarburization)

+ VAR (Vacuum Arc remelting : 진공 재용해) 제조하는 강재입니다.
열간압연 후 Annealed 상태에서는 HB 302 maximum 수준입니다.

MIL-S-7420 규정은 AMS6440, AMS6444 AND, AMS6447 규정으로 대체됐습니다.

Alloy steels used for balls, rollers, inner rings and outer rings of rolling bearing
High fatigue strength and high abrasion resistance are required because
high speed variable repeating load should be necessarily endured .
Therefore, they are manufactured taking into consideration the importance
of the cleanliness of steel and the uniformity of structure.
High carbon low chromium steel is, in general, a representative steel grade.
ISO 6929 treats case hardening steels, induction hardening steels,
stainless steels, and high temperature resistance steels as bearing steels other
than high carbon-chromium steel.

로울링 베어링의 강구, 로울러, 내륜, 외륜에 쓰이는 합금강을 말합니다.
고속으로 변동하는 반복 하중에 견디어 내는 필요성에서 높은 내피로 강도와
내마멸성이 요구되므로, 강철의 청정도와 조직의 균열성을 중요시 해
제조 됩니다. 일반적으로 고탄소 저크롬강이 대표적입니다.

AQ Steel is the most commonly specified quality for general aerospace applications.
It is defined in SAE specification AMS 2301, which outlines the procedure for determining
compliance with cleanliness requirements by the magnetic particle inspection method.
