SA285-C 재질은 압력용기에 사용하는 탄소강 강판입니다.
KS, JIS 규격으로 비교하기 어렵지만, 강도가 낮은 강재입니다.

SA285-C 강재를 제조하는 원소재인 SLAB 도, 특별한 제한도 없고
Killed, Semi-killed, Capped, or Rimmed steel 어떤걸 사용해도 됩니다.

또 ASME SA285-C 강재에는 제조 두께 상한 제한이 있어, 최대 두께
2 inch (50 mm) 이하이고, fusion-welded 압력용기 탄소강 강판입니다.

항복강도로 보면, 205 MPa min. 으로 SA36 – 250 MPa 보다 연강 (mild steel)이고,
KS SS235 보다도 낮고, KS 개정 전 SS330 — 205 MPa minimum 과 같습니다.

Steel products manufactured pressure vessels and high pressure
equipment which require strength, weldability and principally
toughness at a ordinary temperature.
They are generally used for the principal portions of pressure vessels.

압력 용기 및 고압 설비용으로서 고온 강도, 용접성 및 주로 상온에서의 인성을
중요시하여 제조 된 강재로 보통 압력 용기의 주요 부분에 사용됩니다.

※ Rimmed Steel
A classification of steel by ingot casting process and steel of which
liquid steel is solidified while a specific stirring motion like as
boiling (it is called rimmed action) is being carried out by carbon
monoxide generated by reaction between oxygen and carbon
in liquid steel within a mold
Steel manufactured by addition of ferro-manganese, a small amount
of aluminum and so on as deoxdizers.
Although the surface layer is clear, there is segregation in other parts.

주형 내에서 용강 중의 산소와 탄소가 작용해, 일산화탄소를 발생하여,
용강이 특유한 교반 비등 운동(Rimmed 운동이라고 함)을 하면서 응고된 강철로
탈산제로는 Fe-Mn (페로망간), 소량의 알루미늄을 가해서 만든 강철입니다.
표면은 청정하지만 편석이 있습니다.
