ASTM A516-70 재질은 ASME SA516-70 으로도 불리며 Dual Spec 경우도
있는, 중탄소강 수준의 C, Mn, S, P, Si 원소만을 규정한 탄소강 강재입니다.

ASTM A516-70 강판은 노치 (notch) 인성 (toughness)을 중시하고, 용접 하는
압력용기에 쓰이고, A516 강재는 PVQ 516 으로도 불리며, Charpy Impact Test,

Ultrasonic Test (UT), Carbon Equivalent (CE) 조건이 따를 수 있습니다.
A516-70 강판은 Normalizing 열처리 또는 압연한 그대로 (as rolled) 상태입니다.

ASTM A516-70 에서 숫자 “70”은 70 ksi × 6.9 = 485 MPa 의 인장강도 최소 값이고
압력용기 외에도, 자동차와 트럭, 구조용 강관, 교량, 건축물 강재로도 쓰입니다.

※ Charpy V-Notch Impact Test (CVN : 샤르피 충격 시험)
Test to measure the absorbed energy, impact value, percentage
of brittle/ductile fracture, transition temperature, etc. with using
charpy impact testing machine in which test piece is supported by
two supports distant by 40 mm so that the notch meets the middle
between supports and is broken by striking with one blow of
pendulum to the face opposite the notch.

샤르피 충격 시험기를 사용하여 시험편을 40 mm 간격이 있는 두 개의
지지대에 올려 놓고, 또한 노치부를 지지대 사이의 중앙에 놓고
노치부의 뒷면을 해머로 1 회만 충격을 주어, 시험편을 파단 시키고
흡수 에너지, 충격치, 파면율, 천이 온도 등을 측정하는 시험.

※ Toughness (인성 : 靭性)
The degree of difficulty in occurring impact breaking
because of the material’s toughness .
질기고 세며, 충격 파괴를 일으키기 어려운지, 어떤지의 정도.
