Alloy 48 합금은 Nickel 48%, 나머지는 주로 Iron, 합금입니다.
Alloy 48 은 Invar® 48로도 불리는 열팽창합금으로, 니켈-철 합금은

ASTM F30 규정이고 니켈-철-코발트 합금은 ASTM F15 규정입니다.
열팽창합금은 주로 유리와 세라믹 밀봉용 (sealing alloy) 으로 사용됩니다.

ASTM F30, F15, F1684 — Low Thermal Expansion Alloy 는 합금 번호에 따라,
합금량과 열팽창계수 (coefficient of thermal expansion : CTE)가 다릅니다.

ASTM F30 Alloy 48 합금 환봉 재료는 Annealed 조건에서
450~550 MPa 수준의 인장강도와 비중 8.2 g/㎤ 재료입니다.

※ Coefficient of thermal expansion (열팽창계수, 熱膨脹係數)
온도(열)이 1℃ 상승할 때 팽창 된 크기와 팽창 전 크기의
비율을 말하고 선팽창계수와 부피 (체적) 팽창계수가 있습니다.
열팽창계수는 탄소량이 많아지는 만큼, 합금량이
많아지는 만큼 작아집니다.

※ Annealing (풀림 열처리)
Heat treatment consisting of heating and soaking at a suitable
temperature followed by cooling under conditions such that,
after return to ambient temperature, the metal will be in
a structural state closer to that of equilibrium.

금속 재료를 적당한 온도로 가열하고, 그 온도에서 유지하는 균질화 처리를
한 뒤, 냉각함으로써 냉각 후 상온에서의 조직이 평형 상태에
가깝도록 하는 열처리를 말합니다.
