16MnCr5 재질은 EN 10084 표면경화강재 재질 중 한가지로
망간과 크롬 합금강재로, 열처리성이 높은 Chromium 원소를 합금하고

마찬가지로 담금질성을 높여주지만, 너무 많으면 취성이 발생할 수 있는
원소인 망간을 합금 해, 표면 경화시 높은 내마모성을 기대하는 재질입니다.

16MnCr5 +TH 로 표기되는 경우는 treated to hardness range 의미하는 약자로
16MnCr5 +TH 인 경우 HB 156-207 수준으로, 경도 값의 한계를 정한 재질입니다.

16MnCr5 +N (normalizing) 인 경우 HB 207 maximum 상한치만을 규정한 것과 다르게
16MnCr5 +TH 는 경도 값의 상한과 하한 값이 있고 (일정 경도 범위 값 열처리 강재),

고온에서 simple annealing 열처리한 재질로 이전에는 BF-annealing 이라고 불렀습니다.
​16MnCr5 +TH 강재는 볼트, 파스너, 캠 샤프트, 운송 수단용 기계 구조용 재료로 쓰입니다.

​16MnCr5 강재를 표면 처리하는 경우 인장강도 800~1000 MPa 수준이고
냉간 환봉, Rod 형상 제품인 경우 EN 10263-3 규정입니다.

※ Annealing (풀림 열처리)
Heat treatment consisting of heating and soaking at a suitable
temperature followed by cooling under conditions such that,
after return to ambient temperature, the metal will be in
a structural state closer to that of equilibrium.
Annealing is a heat treatment process to transform the steel
structure in to a more homogeneous, soft or more suitable state
Note : Since this definition is very general, it is advisable to use an
expression specifying the aim of the treatment (see bright annealing,
full annealing, soft annealing, inter-critical annealing, isothermal
annealing and subcritical annealing).

금속 재료를 적당한 온도로 가열하고, 그 온도에서 유지하는 균질화 처리를
한 뒤, 냉각함으로써 냉각 후 상온에서의 조직이 평형 상태에
가깝도록 하는 열처리를 말합니다.
이 용어는 아주 광범위하게 사용되므로 처리하는 목적을 덧붙여
사용하는 것이 바람직하다. 예를 들어 광휘 어닐링, 완전 어닐링,
연화 어닐링, 중간 어닐링, 등온 어닐링, 변태점 이하 어닐링.
