AMS 2154 규정은 가공 금속 (wrought metal : 加工金屬) 에 대한
비파괴 시험 중 한가지인 초음파 탐상 시험에 대한 규정입니다.

AMS 2154 Class A → Class AA → Class AAA 로 가면 갈수록
그 검사 대상의 결함이 점점 작아져야 하는 검사 등급 규정입니다.

예를 들어 AMS 2154 Class AA 등급이 요구되는 재질로
49% 수준의 코발트, 51% 수준의 철 성분이면서 다른 합금 성분이

0.08% 이하의 함량 결과가 나타나는 극청정 수준이 요구되는 VIM-VAR
Core Iron ASTM A801 Type 1 과 UNS R56400 (Ti-6Al-4V) 티타늄 합금이 있습니다.

※ Ultrasonic Test (초음파 탐상 시험)
Nondestructive testing to examine inner defects and material
quality of test body by utilizing acoustic property when
ultrasonic wave has transmitted the test body.

초음파를 시험체 중에 전달했을 때, 시험체에 나타나는
음향적 성질을 이용해, 시험체 내부의 결함이나 재질 등을
조사하는 비파괴 시험입니다.

※ Non-destructive testing (NDT : 비파괴 시험 : 非破壞試驗)
Testing to examine existence of flaws, their existing positions, sizes,
forms, distribution of them without destruction materials and products.
This is at times applied to evaluate metallurgical properties.
There are radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing,
liquid penetrant testing, eddy current testing.

소재나 제품을 파괴하지 않고, 결함의 유무, 존재 위치, 크기, 모양,
분포 상태 등을 조사하는 비파괴 시험. 강질 시험 등에 응용되는 수도 있습니다.
방사선 투과 시험, 초음파 탐상 시험, 자분 탐상 시험, 침투 탐상 시험,
와류 탐상 시험 등이 있습니다.
