STS303-W1 재질은 STS303-W2 보다 강도가 약해 연질 와이어라고 합니다.
예를 들어 보면 Dia 0.80~1.60 인 경우 W1 — 570~820 MPa 인장강도이지만

STS303-W2 인 경우는 780~1030 MPa 이므로, Temper W1 이, W2 보다 연질입니다.
STS303 오스테나이트 스텐레스의 성격은 인과 황을 높게 합금해

쾌삭성을 높인 재질로, 일반적인 오스테나이트 스텐레스의 경우 인 0.045%,
황 0.030% 이하와 비교하면 STS303-W1 재질의 P, S 값은 상당히 높습니다.

Wire 재질은 외경이 작을수록 가공경화 효과에 의해 가늘수록
강도가 높아지며, 연신율을 떨어지는 기계적 성질입니다.

※ Sulfur (S : 황)
In amounts of 0.06 to 0.3%, increases machinability.
It is not recommended for alloys used in hot forming.
It decreases weldability and ductility.

황 원소는 0.06~0.3% 수준의 합금으로, 절삭성을 높여 주지만
열간 압연 강재에는 사용치 않으며, 용접성과 연성을 해치는 원소입니다.

※ Free cutting steels (Resulfurized : 쾌삭강, 快削鋼) — JIS
Steels to which free cutting properties is improved by
individual or combined addition of phosphorus (P), sulfur (S),
lead (Pb), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te), calcium (Ca), etc.

인, 황, 납, 셀레늄, 텔루륨, 칼슘 등을 단독 또는 복합으로
첨가하여, 피삭성 (被削性)을 높인 강.
