AL 2014-T6 재질의 특징은 낮은 비중과 높은 강도입니다.
탄소강 비중 7.85 g/㎤, 2014-T6 비중 2.82 g/㎤ 로 가볍고

탄소강 ASTM A36 항복강도 250 MPa, 2014-T6 380 MPa 로
탄소강과 비교해 보면 낮은 비중과 높은 강도를 알 수 있습니다.

이와 같은 높은 비강도 재료는 주로 항공기 구조용 재료로 사용되며
트럭의 프레임으로 사용되는 내식성을 가지는 알루미늄 합금입니다.

Solution heat treated and artificially aged
용체화 처리 후 시효경화한 것을 말합니다.
용체화 처리 후 적극적인 냉간 가공을 하지 않고 인공시효 경화
처리한 것으로, 그 냉간 가공을 한 것의 효과가 작습니다.

※ 비강도 (比强度 : strength-to-weight) : 인장강도를 비중으로 나눈 값

※ Artificial ageing (precipitation heat treatment) : 인공시효 (석출 열처리)

과포화 고용체로부터 가용 성분의 석출에 의한 강화를 위하여
상온 이상에서 합금을 열처리하는 것을 말합니다.
