STC85 강재는 탄소 공구강재로 탄소량만으로 강도를 높이는 재질로
KS D 3751 규정 11 종 모두가, 탄소량의 높고 낮음만 있고

다른 원소는 변동이 없는 규정으로, 이전의 Steel Symbol STC 5 입니다.
탄소량 0.80~0.90%로 중간 값 0.85와 Steel Tool Carbon의 약자 STC85입니다.

JIS G4401 Symbol 로는 SK85 이고, 내용에서는 STC85 = SK85 입니다.
Sheet 로는 STC85 (SK85)로 공급이 가능하지만 환봉으로는 공급이

여의치 않을 수 있으며, 이런 경우 탄소량이 1.00~1.10%로 더 높은
STC105 (SK105)까지 확장해서 사용 검토가 바람직합니다.

Annealing 상태에서 STC 85 – HBW 207 이하, STC 105 강재 – HBW 212 이하이고
QT 열처리 시에는 STC 85 — HRC 59 min, STC 105 – 61 min으로 대체 검토 가능입니다.

※ Tool steel (공구강, 工具鋼)

tool steels, alloy tool steels, and high speed tool steels by chemical

강철의 총칭. 용도가 넓고 요구성능이 다방면에 걸치므로 종류가 많습니다.

고속도 공구강으로 분류됩니다.

※ Carbon Tool Steel (탄소공구강 : 炭素工具鋼)
Tool steels containing carbon of 0.55% to 1.50%, but special alloy
elements are not added.
0.6~1.5%의 탄소를 함유하고, 특별하게 합금원소를 첨가하지 않은 공구강을 말합니다.

※ Carbon Steel (炭素鋼 : 탄소강)
Steel made by alloy iron and carbon of which carbon content
is generally within a range from 0.02% to 2%.
Further, a small amount of silicon, manganese, phosphorus,
sulfur, etc. are usually contained.

For convenience, carbon steel may be sometimes classified as
according to the carbon content or hardness (including strength).
Classification by carbon content : Low carbon steels,
medium carbon steels and high carbon steels.
Classification by hardness : Extra mild steel, mild steel and hard steel.

철과 탄소의 합금으로 탄소함유량이 보통 0.02~약 2% 범위의 강을 말합니다.
또한 소량의 규소, 망간, 인, 유황 등을 함유하는 것이 보통입니다.
편의상, 탄소 함유량 또는 경도(강도도 포함)에 따라서 탄소강은
다시 다음과 같이 분류됩니다.
탄소 함유량에 따라 분류하는 경우 : 저탄소강, 중탄소강, 고탄소강
경도에 따른 분류 : 극연강, 연강, 경강으로도 나뉩니다.
