SUS440B 강재는 QT 열처리로 경도를 확~ 높일 수 있는 마르텐사이트
스테인리스로, 탄소 함량에서 오스테나이트 304, 316 – 0.08% max.와 비교하면

비교할 수 없는 수준으로 높은 0.75~0.95% 스테인리스입니다.
탄소량이 높아 QT 열처리성은 좋아 경도는 높지만, 탄소량이 높으니 304, 316

재질보다 내식성은 떨어져, 내식성보다는 높은 경도를 위한 스테인리스입니다.
SUS440A → SUS440B → SUS440C 재질로 갈수록 탄소량은 높아지고 경도도 높아집니다.

높은 경도로 내마모성이 좋지만 탄소량이 높아 용접이 안되며, SUS440B 강재는
플라스틱 금형, 칼날용 소재, 작업용 공구로 쓰입니다.

※ Hardness (경도 : 硬度)
Resistance to plastic deformation usually by indentation.
For steel users, it is a parameter to express different mechanical
properties of steel. It should be considered together with other
properties. For example, if two different steel grades have both
50 HRC hardness, it does not necessary mean both have the
same mechanical properties or wear resistance.

압인이나 긁힘에 의한 변형, 특히 영구적인 변형에 대한 재료의
내구성으로 강재의 기계적 성질의 지표입니다.
다른 강재가, 같은 경도값을 가지더라도 내마모성, 기계적 성질이
다를 수 있으니, 경도와 함께 다른 기계적 성질도 참고해야 합니다.

※ Martensite (마르텐자이트)
체심 정방체 (BCC) 구조를 가지는 준안정 고용체를 말합니다.
이것은 오스테나이트가 확산 기구가 아닌 방법으로 변태 되어 형성됩니다.
마르텐자이트는 담금질강재의 구조입니다.
탄소와 철의 합금으로 담금질을 할 때 생기는 높은 강도의 조직으로
단단하지만 취약하고 깨지기 쉬우며, 세멘타이트보다는 경도가 낮습니다.

Metastable solid solution with a body-centred tetragonal crystal or a
body-centered cubic crystal having the same chemical composition
as that of the original austenite.
It is formed at a temperature of point Ms or lower by the transformation
of austenite without diffusional mechanism.
Martensite is sometimes produced by plastic deformation of austenite.
Martensite is the structure in quenched steel.
