BH Beam 강재는 Built-Up H-Beam을 줄여서 부르는 말입니다.
용접빔이라고도 하고 현대제철, 동국제강에서 생산하는 압연 빔 (롤빔)과 형상은 같은

H-Beam 이지만, 용접빔은 “H”형상의 접합부를 용접으로 연결한 빔을 말하고
압연빔으로는 생산하기 어려운 대형 Size H-Beam 경우에 용접빔을 사용합니다.

후판 (thick plate)를 절단한 후 “H” 형상을 만들고 접합 부위를 용접하는 방법으로
생산하며, 대형 구조물의 경우 Roll로 압연 생산 불가능한 Size 경우에 사용합니다.

이 경우는 용접으로 H-Beam을 제조하므로, 용접 부위 결함을 검사가 필요한 경우
비파괴 검사를 하기도 하며, 대형 Size 경우는 SM355A 고장력강을 사용하기도 합니다.

※ Non-destructive testing (NDT : 비파괴시험 : 非破壞試驗)
Testing to examine existence of flaws, their existing positions, sizes,
forms, distribution of them without destruction materials and products.
This is at times applied to evaluate metallurgical properties.
There are radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing,
liquid penetrant testing, eddy current testing.

소재나 제품을 파괴하지 않고, 결함의 유무, 존재 위치, 크기, 모양,
분포상태 등을 조사하는 비파괴시험을 말하고 강질 시험 등에 응용되는 수도 있다.
방사선 투과시험, 초음파 탐상시험, 자분탐상시험, 침투 탐상시험,
와류 탐상 시험 등이 있습니다.

※ High Tensile Strength Steel (고장력강 : 高張力鋼 : 하이텐강 : HT50)
Steel products manufactured for building, bridges, ships, vehicles,
automobiles, other structural use and pressure vessel use which
require weldability, notch toughness, workability, and
tensile strength of 490 N/㎟ min. in general.
In cold rolled steel sheets, those of 340 N/㎟ min. in tensile
strength are called high tensile strength steels.

건축, 교량, 선박, 차량, 기타의 구조물 및 압력용기용으로서,
보통 인장강도 50kgf/㎟ (490N/㎟) 이상의 용접성, 노치 인성 및
가공성도 중시해서 제조된 강재라고 합니다.
자동차용 냉연강판에서는 인장강도 35kgf/㎟(340 N/㎟)
이상을 고장력강이라고 합니다.
탄소강 열간 압연 강재 인장강도 490 MPa 수준은 유럽의 S355급 강재와 비교됩니다.
