AMS 6416은 주로 항공기에 사용되는 재질로 높은 강도와 인성이 요구되는 환경에 사용되므로
진공 용해 (VAR) 방법으로 생산되는 특징이 있는 재료로, 인장강도 270~300 ksi 수준으로

보통의 Ni-Cr-Mo 합금강으로는 따라올 수 없는 수준의 강도이면서
보통의 합금강은 진공용해 방법으로 생산하지 않아, 생산 방법에서도 차이가 있습니다.

Premium Aircraft Quality Steel is the ultimate quality that can currently be obtained in
production quantities and is usually applied to the most critical parts and components.
Steel conformed to this quality level is produced by the consumable electrode vacuum
arc remelting technique. AMS 2300 defines this quality and outlines testing requirements
Steels described herein which meet this quality are designated by the letters VAR
(Vacuum Arc Remelts) or CEVM (Consumable Electrode Vacuum Melted)
