AMS 4339 규정은 용체화 처리 후, 인공시효 열처리와 압연 또는 냉간 생산한
알루미늄 환봉에 대한 규정으로, Alloy 2024-T851 재질로, 주로 항공기용 재료로

쓰이거나, 높은 응력이 작용하는 환경에 사용하는 환봉, Rods 형상 제품에 대한 규정입니다.
비중 2.78 g/㎤ 으로 탄소강 또는 합금강 비중 7.85 g/㎤와 비교하면

현저한 저(低) 비중의 재료이면서, 항복강도 400 MPa minimum의 고강도입니다.
ASTM A36 최소 항복강도 250 MPa, 스테인리스 Type 304 — 205 MPa와

비교하면 얼마나 높은 강도 재료인지 알 수 있습니다.
다른 알루미늄 재료와 비교하면 강도가 높은 대신 내식성은 조금 희생된 재질입니다.

대부분 gears, shafts, bolts, nuts, pistons and other fastening devices,
용도로 쓰이고, 높은 강도는 인공 시효라는 열처리를 거쳐 완성됩니다.

※ Artificial ageing (precipitation heat treatment) : 인공시효 (석출 열처리)
A thermal treatment of an alloy at above room temperature to produce strengthening
by precipitation of soluble constituents from the super-saturated solid solution
과포화 고용체로부터 가용 성분의 석출에 의한 강화를 위하여
상온 이상에서 합금을 열처리하는 것을 말합니다.

※ Natural ageing (자연 시효)
