NV E500 은 extra high strength steel (EHS)로
offshore 용도로 사용되는 강재 입니다.

NV = designation of a steel grade according to the
DNV offshore standards 를 의미합니다.

NV E500 은 GL E500 과 대응 가능하고
DNV, GL 합병으로 VL E500 의 검사 증명서도 발행됩니다.

NV E500 은  항복강도 500 MPa = 500 N/㎟ minimum,
인장강도 610~770 N/㎟ 의 높은 강도입니다.

NV E500 항복강도 500 N/㎟ 이  얼마나 높은 강도인지는
ASTM A36 항복강도와 비교하면, 바로 알 수 있습니다.

ASTM A36 — 250 N/㎟ 와 비교하면, NV E500 은
500 N/㎟ minimum으로, 2 배에 이르는 강도입니다.

강도와 함께 높은 충격 시험 (CVN : charpy v-notch impact test)
-40℃ 저온에서 Transverse 33 joule minimum 입니다.

CVN 또한 ASTM A36과 비교하면 알 수 있는데
A36에는 저온 충격 시험 (저온 취성 시험)이 있지도 않습니다

DNV-OS-B101 규격에는 E500 과 EW500 이라는 재질이 있고
E500 의 “E”는 normal weldability

EW500 의 “EW”는 improved weldability 의 의미로
E500 대비 EW500 은 용접성 향상 강종을 의미합니다.

※ Brittleness (취성 : 脆性)
The property of little deformability, hard and brittle in general.
It is usually compared by the strength of impact or
the surface conditions of fracture.

일반적으로 단단하고 취성 (脆性)이며, 변형 등이 적은 성질.
보통, 충격 시험에서의 충격치의 대소 또는 파면의 상황에
따라 비교합니다.
인성 (Toughness)와 반대되는 개념으로 외부의 힘에 물체가
소성 변형 (Plastic deformation) 을 거의 보이지 않고,
파괴되는 현상을 말합니다.

※ Impact Test (충격 시험 : 衝擊試驗)
Test of evaluating toughness or brittleness of materials to examine
the magnitude of absorbed energy, fracture appearance, deformation
behavior, crack propagation behavior, etc. in breaking test piece by
applying impact load.
According to the manners to apply impact load, there are various
test methods such as impact tensile, impact compression, impact
bending, impact torsion, etc.
Further, according to kinds of testing machine to be used, they
are also divided into charpy impact test, I zod impact test, etc.

재료의 인성 또는 취성을 조사하기 위해, 시험편에 충격 하중을 가하여
파단 시키고, 소요된 에너지의 대소, 파면의 양산, 변형 거동, 균열의
진전 거동 등에 따라 평가를 하는 시험.
충격 하중 방법에 따라 충격 인장, 충격 압축, 충격 비틀림 시험 등이 있고
사용되는 시험기의 종류에 따라, 사르피 충격 시험, 아이조드
충격 시험으로 구분됩니다.
