SAE (Society of American Engineers) 미국 자동차기술회와
Steel Code를 같이 사용함으로
AISI/SAE 1045, AISI/SAE 1008과 같이 표기됩니다.
AISI/SAE Carbon Steel and Low-Alloy Steel은
화학 원소와 허용 공차에 대해서만 규정을 하고 있고
Mechanical Properties에 대한
규정은 관리하고 있지 않고 있습니다.
AISI/SAE Steel Grade 중 아래와 같이 표기되는
Aircraft Alloys가 있으며,
E4130, E4330, E4340, E4620
E6150, E8740, E9310, E52100
예를 들어 AISI/SAE 4340 –UNS No G43400과
E4340–UNS No G43406은
4340이라는 숫자만 같지, 화학 조성이 다르고
생산하는 방법도 달리 규정하고 있습니다.

(designated by the prefix letter “E”) is 0.025%, max.

※ Carbon Steel
Steel made by alloy iron and carbon of which carbon content
is generally within a range from 0.02% to 2%.
Further, a small amount of silicon, manganese, phosphorus,
sulfur, etc. are usually contained.
For convenience, carbon steel may be sometimes classified as
according to the carbon content or hardness (including strength).
Classification by carbon content : Low carbon steels,
medium carbon steels and high carbon steels.
Classification by hardness : Extra mild steel,
mild steel and hard steel.

A Carbon steel to which is added a definite amount of one or more
elements other than carbon, in order to impart special properties
to the steel so that it can be used for specific purposes.
