AMS 6348 재질은 SAE 4130, AISI 4130, Aircraft Quality Steel 입니다.
저합금강으로 12.7 mm Bars 형태의 Normalizing 열처리 강재입니다.

Aircraft Quality Steel 이라고 불리는 강재는 항공기용 부품 강재이고
가공 후 Magnetic Particle Inspection (자분 탐상 시험)이 있는 강재입니다.

AMS 6348 소재를 Quenching and Tempering 열처리 하면
경도 35 HRC 이상의 심경화능 (through hardening) 가능합니다.

AMS 6348 재질의 합금 원소인 Chromium, Molybdenum 원소는
QT 열처리성과 Through Hardening 열처리성을 높여주는 원소입니다.

AMS 6348 재질은 ASTM A331 — Cold Finished, A332 — Hot Rolled,
AMS 2301 — Magnetic Particle Inspection (자분 탐상 시험)

※ Magnetic Particle Testing (자분 탐상 시험)
철강 재료 등, 강자성체를 자화 시켜, 결함부에 생긴 자극 (磁極)에 의한 자분의
부착을 이용하여 결함을 검출하는 비파괴 시험을 말합니다.

Nondestructive test method in which ferromagnetic material such as iron
and steel is magnetized and sticking of magnetic particles to magnetic poles
generated in defect portions in utilized to detect defects.

※ Through-Hardening (깊은 경화)
철강재의 표면과 중심부의 경도에 차이가 없도록 경화 깊이를 크게 하는 담금질 경화.
Quench hardening such that the depth of hardening is not less than distance
between the core and the surface of the ferrous product.
