ASTM A514 재질의 특징은 Grade 와 무관하게 690 MPa 항복강도입니다.
690 MPa 는 100 ksi 로 단위 환산 되어 100 ksi 강판이라고도 합니다.

ASTM A514 강판은 Quenching and Tempering 열처리 하는 합금강재이고
용접성을 감안한 고항복점 (high yield strength) 강재입니다.

A514 Gr.Q 강재의 특징은 Nickel, Chromium, Molybdenum 합금 강재로
이들 Ni-Cr-Mo 합금 원소는 QT 열처리성을 높여주는 원소들입니다.

A514 Grade Q 는 강판 두께 5″ (150 mm) 까지 제조 가능한 등급이고
A514 Gr.Q 및 다른 A514 Grade 는 각각의 최고 두께가 정해져 있습니다.

A514-Q, 100 ksi 급 강판과 비교 가능한 QT 열처리 압연강판규격으로는
NSSMC – Welten 780, SSAB – Strenx 700, Posco – Posten 80 등이 있습니다.

※ Molybdenum (Mo)
Its use as an alloying element in steel increase hardenability and
in low alloy steels reduces the risk of temper brittleness.
It is used in stainless steels as well as high speed steels.
It is increases the high-temperature tensile and creep strengths in steel.

몰리브덴은 경화능 향상 원소이고, 저합금강에서는 템퍼 취성을 감소 시키는
역할을 합니다. 몰리브덴은 고속도강부터 스텐레스까지 합금 되는 원소입니다.
몰리브덴은 강에서 고온 강도와 크리프 강도를 높여주는 역할을 합니다.

※ 열처리( Heat Treatment : 熱處理)
철강재의 전체 또는 일부에 열 사이클을 적용하여 그 성질 또는 조직을 변화 시키는
일련의 작업으로, 철강재의 화학 조성은 이러한 작업 과정으로 변할 수 있습니다.
