Nitrogen (窒素)는 스텐레스강에서

강도를 향상 시키고
인성 (Toughness) 높여줄 뿐 아니라

스테인레스강 조직을 미세화 시킵니다.
침입형 강화 원소인 Nitrogen은 혼자 있을 때보다

Molybdenum과 함께 할 때, 내식성을 향상 시키기도 하지만
그렇다고 너무 많이 넣으면 내식성을 저하 시킵니다.

N의 이와 같은 유용성을
SUS304 에서도 이용해

SUS304에 N을 넣은 SUS304N2 강종의 경우
SUS304 대비 N을 0.15%~0.30%와 약간의 Nb (0.15% max) 합금 만으로도

항복 강도를 SUS304 — min 205MPa 을
SUS304N2 — min 345 MPa 까지 상승됩니다.

※ Toughness (인성 : 靭性)
Impact absorbing ability of steel without fracture. It is measured by
energy absorbed in an impact bending test. But the area below the
stress-strain curve in tensile testing is also a measure of toughness.
Steel, which is difficult to break has a high toughness.
Steel, which high toughness normally has a high ductility and is
difficult to break with impact energy.
Steels with low toughness are brittle.

무려 2배 이상의 항복 강도를 보이면서
SUS304N2 대비 훨씬 높은 강도를 보이는 강종입니다.

Pitting Corrosion — 공식.
Crevice Corrosion — 틈 부식 저항성도 높고, 내식성의 높은 강종입니다.

※ Pitting corrosion (공식 : 孔蝕)
Localized corrosion resulting in pits, i.e
cavities extending from the surface into the metal
금속 표면으로부터 내부까지 확장된 구멍을 유발 시키는 국부 부식.

※ Crevice corrosion (틈새 부식)
금속 표면과 다른 금속 (금속 또는 비금속) 사이에 형성된 작은 구멍이나
틈의 주변 가까이 또는 내부에서 발생하는 국부 부식.

Local corrosion in connecting with crevices occurring in or immediately
adjacent to the crevice area, which has developed between the metal
