ASTM B196 규정은 동과 베릴륨 합금 재료에 대한 규정이고
C17200 — 베릴륨 약 1.9% 합금 및 모두 3개 베릴륨동 종류가 있습니다.

B196 C17200 이전의 이름은 Alloy 25 로 불렀으며, Solution Heat Treated
열처리 조건에서는 항복강도 140 MPa minimum 이지만

냉간 가공후 Hard Temper 에서는 항복강도 520 MPa min 의 높은 강도입니다.
B196 C17200 재료의 경우 개정 전 Temper, 개정 후 Temper 가 다름에 유의해야 합니다.

C17200 합금은 강도, 치수 안정성, 스프링성, 내마모성, 높은 내응력, 내식성, 내피로성
특징으로, 공구, 드릴, 파스너, 스프링, 축, 프라스틱 금형다이 기어 용도입니다.

※ 베릴륨 (Beryllium : Be)
베릴륨 원소는 동과 니켈에 1.6~2% 수준이 합금 되면 현저히 강도를 높여주는 원소입니다.
알루미늄과 마그네슘에도 합금 되어 결정립 미세화와 내산화성을 높여줍니다.
시효 열처리로 높은 강도 재료로 내마모성, 내식성이 좋고 스프링성 강해 항공기의
브레이크 디스크, 정밀 기계 부품, 방위 산업용 부품, 노즐 용도로 사용됩니다.
베릴륨 합금동으로는 C17200, 니켈 합금으로는 N03360, Cast M220C 재질 등이 있고
비중은 1.848 g/㎤이고, 인체에 미치는 독성을 조심해야 합니다.
