SF55 재질은 탄소강으로 된 단조강으로 합금강이 아닙니다.
0.60% maximum 탄소량으로, 굳이 따지자면 기계구조용 탄소강재

SM58C 수준 탄소량으로 KS D3710, JIS G3201 규정 강재 재료입니다.
Normalizing, Annealing, Normalizing and Tempering 열처리 해서

사용하는 강재로 인장강도 최소 540 MPa minimum 의 기계적 성질입니다.
SF55 의 숫자 “55” 는 강도 단위 55 kgf/㎟, 현재 사용하는 단위인

MPa or N/㎟ 으로 환산하면 55 × 9.8 ≒ 540 입니다.
SF55 기호는 개정 전의 기호이고, 현행은 SF540A 가 재질 기호입니다.

SF540A 재질의 경우는 샤르피 충격 시험이 없는 강재이지만
SF540B (구 SF55 QT 재료)는 충격시험이 있는 차이가 있습니다.

※ Impact Test (충격시험 : 衝擊試驗)
Test of evaluating toughness or brittleness of materials to examine
the magnitude of absorbed energy, fracture appearance, deformation
behavior, crack propagation behavior, etc. in breaking test piece by
applying impact load.
According to the manners to apply impact load, there are various
test methods such as impact tensile, impact compression, impact
bending, impact torsion, etc.
Further, according to kinds of testing machine to be used, they
are also divided into charpy impact test, I zod impact test, etc.

재료의 인성 또는 취성을 조사하기 위해, 시험편에 충격 하중을 가하여
파단시키고, 소요된 에너지의 대소, 파면의 양산, 변형거동, 균열의
진전거동 등에 따라 평가를 하는 시험을 말합니다.
충격하중 방법에 따라 충격인장, 충격압축, 충격 비틀림 시험등이 있고
사용되는 시험기의 종류에 따라, 샤르피 충격시험, 아이조드
충격시험으로 구분됩니다.

※ Carbon Steel (炭素鋼 : 탄소강)
Steel made by alloy iron and carbon of which carbon content
is generally within a range from 0.02% to 2%.

철과 탄소의 합금으로 탄소함유량이 보통 0.02~약 2% 범위의 강을 말합니다.
또한 소량의 규소, 망간, 인, 유황 등을 함유하는 것이 보통입니다.
