070M55 재질은 영국 규격의 탄소강 강재로, 탄소량 nominal 0.55% 입니다.
이 정도 탄소량이면 중탄소강 수준으로 열처리성이 좋은 재질입니다.

Normalizing 열처리시 최소 항복강도 355 MPa 이지만
QT 열처리시에는 최소 항복강도 570 MPa 수준의 고강도 재료입니다.

탄소량이 0.55% 수준으로 높아 용접성이 좋지 않으며, 표면의 경도를 높여
사용하는 표면경화강으로도 쓰이고, 표면경화시에 내마모성 좋습니다.

보통은 As Rolled 조건이지만, Bright Bar 공급 조건도 가능한 재질입니다.
크랭크 샤프트, 기어, 캠, 축으로 쓰이고, 영국 규격 EN9 재질과 대응됩니다.

※ Carbon Steel (炭素鋼 : 탄소강)

is generally within a range from 0.02% to 2%.
Further, a small amount of silicon, manganese, phosphorus,
sulfur, etc. are usually contained.
For convenience, carbon steel may be sometimes classified as
according to the carbon content or hardness (including strength).
Classification by carbon content : Low carbon steels,
medium carbon steels and high carbon steels.
Classification by hardness : Extra mild steel, mild steel and hard steel.

철과 탄소의 합금으로 탄소함유량이 보통 0.02~약 2% 범위의 강을 말합니다.
또한 소량의 규소, 망간, 인, 유황 등을 함유하는 것이 보통입니다.

편의상, 탄소 함유량 또는 경도(강도도 포함)에 따라서 탄소강은
다시 다음과 같이 분류됩니다.
탄소 함유량에 따라 분류하는 경우 : 저탄소강, 중탄소강, 고탄소강
경도에 따른 분류 : 극연강, 연강, 경강으로도 나뉩니다.
