열간압연 또는 열간 단조로 제조됩니다.
AISI 에서는 사용 온도 (maximum operating temperature)를
535℃ (1000℉)까지라 규정하고 있습니다.
Elevated Temperature에서 높은 강도
좋은 인성 — Good toughness
좋은 내마모성 — Good wear resistance.
높은 압축강도 — High compressive strength.
그리고 1.3343, HS6-5-2와 AISI M2
JIS SKH51의 물성이 서로 비슷합니다.
Soft annealed 열처리 한 경우
경도는 HB max. 262 이고
Quenching 1180~1230℃, Tempering 560±10℃에서
경도는 HRC min.64 입니다.
인성이 필요한 절삭 공구와 기타의 공구로 사용되며
PVD/CVD 코팅에 필요한 base metal로, 우수한 성질을 가집니다.
AISI 에서는 M2 를, Through-hardening, carburizing, and martensitic
stainless steels for ball, roller, and specialty bearing applications
제품군 중 Through-hardening Group에
AISI M2 재질을 나타내고 있습니다.

Steels used mainly for machining and for forming processes and which,
because of their chemical composition have the highest-temperature
hardness and temper resistance up to about 600℃.
고탄소강에 크롬, 몰리브덴, 텅스텐, 바나듐, 코발트 등의 원금 원소를
비교적 다량으로 첨가하고, 절삭 공구 등에 쓰이는 공구강으로
주로 고속 절삭에 적합하며, 마찰 열에 의한 고온에 잘 견딥니다.
합금 원소에 따라 텅스텐계와 몰리브덴계로 나뉩니다.
※ Toughness (인성 : 靭性)
The degree of difficulty in occurring impact breaking
because of the material’s toughness.
질기고 세며, 충격 파괴를 일으키기 어려운지, 어떤지의 정도.
질김성으로 충격에 대한 금속 재료의 저항성을 말합니다.
※ Through hardening steels
They are normally preferred in the plastic molds which should be
resistant to high compression forces. The advantage of through
hardening steels compared to case hardening steels is that hardness
is reached not only in the surface but also in the core.
