SMnC420 재질은 망간과 크롬 합금강으로, 개정 전 기호는 SMnC21 입니다.
망간은 강도를 높여주지만. 취성도 높이는 원소이기에 SMn– 망간강과

SMnC — 망간크롬강에서만 1.40% 수준을 합금하지, JIS G 4053 기계구조용 합금강
40 재질 중 다른 합금강에서는 많아 봐야 0.90% 수준 maximum 합금 원소입니다.

망간 크롬 합금강에서 크롬은 열처리시에 강도를 높여주는 아주 유효한 원소입니다.
그냥 망간만을 합금한 망간강 SMn420 재질이 QT 열처리시에 인장강도 690 MPa 이상이지만

망간강에 크롬을 합금한 망간크롬강에서 인장강도 830 MPa 이상으로 높여주는
결정적 역할을 하는 원소로, 대부분의 합금강에 크롬 원소가 합금됩니다.

망간과 크롬 원소는 다른 고가의 원소인 니켈 대비 가격이 낮은 합금 원소입니다.
SMnC420 재질 공급이 원활치 않은 경우 유럽 규격 16MnCr5 재질 검토가 바람직합니다.

※ Manganese (Mn)
Stabilized austenite and lowers the transformation temperature,
improving quenchability. Increases strength without reducing toughness.
Stabilizes cementite and suppresses graphitization.
Fixes S as MnS and thereby prevents red brittleness.

망간은 오스테나이트 안정화 원소이고, 천이온도를 낮춰줍니다.
소입성을 증가시키고, 인성의 감소없이 강도를 높여주지만
너무 많으면 취성을 증가시킵니다.

※ Chromium (Cr : 크롬)
When used as an alloying element, chromium increases the hardenability of steel
and in association with high carbon gives resistance to wear and abrasion.
Chromium has an important effect on corrosion resistance and is present
in stainless steels in amounts of 11.5-20%.

크롬은 강에 합금 원소로 사용되며, 크롬량이 증가하면 경화성이 높아지고
고탄소강에는 내마모 성질을 부여합니다. 크롬은 스텐레스강에서 가장
중요한 원소로 11.5~20% 수준 합금되, 내식성질을 부여합니다.
