MIL-S-8699 재질은 환봉이나 단조강재 제품으로 AISI 4330 재질에
Vanadium 을 합금한 항공기강 재료에 관한 규정입니다.

4330 재질에 Vanadium 합금량을 Modified 합금 해서 AISI 4330V 로 불리는 재질입니다.
열처리에 의해 인장강도 220 ~240 ksi (1518~1656 MPa) 에 이르는 강재입니다.

MIL-S-8699, 4330V 재질은 Aircraft Quality (항공기 강재) 규정으로
진용 용해 방법으로 제조해 강재 내부의 가스, 불순물을 제거한 청정강재입니다.

이와 같은 높은 기계적 성질은 Austenitized at 1600Ｆ(871℃), 1h ; oil quenched.
Double tempered at 600℉ (315.5℃), 2h ; air cooled, QT 열처리로 가능합니다.

MIL-S-8699, 4330V 재질은 High Impact machine parts, oil and gas industry,
drill jar and in the aerospace industry for bolting, air frames 등의 용도입니다.

Nickel, Chromium, Molybdenum 원소는 QT 성능을 높여주는 원소이고
Vanadium 은 소량만 합금 해도 고강도를 얻기에, 주로 공구강에 쓰이는 원소입니다.

※ Aircraft Quality Steel (AQ Steel : 항공기강 : 航空機鋼)
AQ Steel is the most commonly specified quality for general aerospace applications.
It is defined in SAE specification AMS 2301, which outlines the procedure for determining
compliance with cleanliness requirements by the magnetic particle inspection method.

※ Vacuum melting (진공 용해)
Melting in a vacuum to prevent contamination from air, as well as to
remove gases already dissolved in the metal ; the solidification may
also be carried out on a vacuum or at low pressure.
