HY-100, 강재는 환봉과 Plate 제품이 있고 MIL-S-21952 규정은
HY-100, HY-80 합금강 환봉에 대한 규정이고

MIL-S-16216 규정은 HY-100, HY-80 Plate 에 대한 규정으로
제품의 형상에 따라 MIL- S – Number 를, 달리 하고 있는 재질입니다.

HY-100 Round-Bar, MIL-S-21952 강재는 개략 Nickel 2.5%,
Chromium 1.5%, Molybdenum 0.5% 수준의 Ni-Cr-Mo 합금이면서

강을 취약하게 만드는 비금속 개재물인 황과 인의 함량을 극히 낮은
수준으로 하고, 기계적 성질을 높여주는 다양한 원소를 미량 합금합니다.

HY-100 Round-Bar 에 합금 되는 Nickel 원소는 강재에 인성을 부여하고
크롬과 몰리브덴은 QT 열처리시에 담금질성을 향상 시키는 원소입니다.

HY-100 Round-Bar 재질의 HY : High Yield Strength (고항복강도)
HY-100 (항복강도 100 ksi — 690 MPa minimum)을 의미하는 약자입니다.

또한 HY-100 강재의 환봉과 강판은 NAVSEA T9074-BD-GIB-010 규정을 따르며,
NAVSEA 는 미국 해군 해상 무기 체계 사령부의 Spec 입니다.

HY-100 Round-Bar 강재의 특징은 높은 항복강도와 노치 인성 (notch toughness),
연성(ductility) 강재로, 전투 함정에 사용토록 설계되, 생산되는 재료입니다.

HY-80, HY-100 강재는 Plate, Round-Bar 형상 제품 외에
Tube/Pipe 제품인 경우는 gun drilled tube/pipe 제품입니다.

강의 응고 과정에서 강 안에 석출 또는 혼입 되어 들어가는
비금속성의 개재물로 매크로 조직 시험으로 조사하는데
앞에서 말한 개재물이란 육안으로 인지 되는
비금속 개재물을 말합니다.
