SM490A 강판은 탄소강 강판 규격으로, 주로 용접용 강판으로 쓰입니다.
인장강도 490 MPa, 항복강도 325 MPa minimum 강재로

KS SM355A, EN S355J2 강재보다 항복강도에서 조금 아래입니다.
하지만 ASTM A36 보다는 최저 항복강도에서 30% 수준 높은 강도입니다.

SM490A 재질처럼 탄소강 강판은 탄소량의 조정으로 강재의 강도를
높이고 내릴 수 있는 규격으로, 합금강 강판과는 다릅니다.

SM490A 탄소강 강판은 As Rolled (열처리 없이 압연한 그대로) 또는
Normalizing, TMCP 제조 방법으로 열처리 해서 사용하기도 합니다.

※ TMCP (thermo mechanical control process : 열가공 제어 공정)
A generic term for manufacturing methods carrying out air cooling or
enforced controlled cooling subsequent to the main process
of controlled rolling.
It includes the thermo-mechanical rolling and accelerated rolling,
but not when it is classical controlled rolling alone
This is also called TMCP.

열가공제어법이라고 하며, 강재를 압연 생산시 온도를 제어하는
제어 압연을 기본으로 하고, 냉각시 공냉, 수냉의 방법으로 강재의 기계적
성질을 확보하는 강판으로, 온라인 정밀 제어 열가공처리 강판이라고도 하지만
용어의 길이가 너무 길어, 간단히 TMCP 라고 합니다.

※ Normalizing (불림 :燒準)
Heat treatment consisting of austenitizing followed by air cooling.
The purposes of this operation are to eliminate the influence of pre-working,
to render the crystal grains finder and to improve their mechanical properties.

오스테나이트화 후 공기 중에서 냉각하는 열처리로
노말라이징 열처리의 목적은 강재 생산 앞 공정에서 받은 응력 (Stress)를 풀어주고
결정립을 미세화, 표준화 시켜, 기계적 성질을 향상 시키는 열처리를 말합니다.
