Def Stan 02-779 (NES 779) 재질은 Copper 90%, Nickel 10% 합금입니다.
영국 국방성 규격으로 90/10 Cupro Nickel (백동)로도 불립니다.

백동은 내해수성과 내식성이 좋은 금속으로, Def Stan 02-779 (NES 779) 은,
바다에 서식하는 해양 생물 (조개류, 박테리아)이 금속에 들러 붙어

발생하는 부식에 대해 내식성이고, 응력 부식 균열 (SCC) 염려가 없습니다.
Def Stan 02-779 (NES 779) 합금은, 높은 연성과 인성, 좋은 용접성과

작업성, 극저온에서도 사용 가능하고, 내구성과 산화 저항성 재질입니다.
해양 설비, 열 교환기, 해수와 접촉하는 크랭크 shafts, 밸브 펌프 용도입니다.

※ Stress corrosion (응력 부식 : 應力腐蝕)
부식과 인장 응력 또는 잔류 응력, 그리고 부식성 환경으로 인해
금속의 변형과 함께 발생하는 부식을 말합니다.
금속 표면에 거의 부식이 없지만 미세한 균열들이 금속
내부로 퍼짐에 따라 (전파에)따라, 설계 강도보다 훨씬 낮은
응력에서도 금속 파괴가 일어날 수 있습니다.

That is excellent in sea water resistance and high temperature strength, and
used for conductive pipe for heat exchanger. Also the alloy of coins of
74.0~76.0 % of copper and 24.0~26.0 % of nickel is known
